Toastie combines offspring of Egan, Bevin, Cara, and Trekkie, my four original foundation dogs. She has a nice framework, proper angles and proportion of leg to body according to the standard, but has more leg, less bone, less coat, and more scope than is currently popular in the show ring. I get many compliments on how pretty she is, and performance people should like her conformation. She also moves well, with a lovely floating trot, runs like a gazelle, and jumps like a kangaroo. She is less confident than I’d like, but otherwise has a good temperament, is affectionate and willing to please.

Toastie had a busy 2013, earning her RN and RA Rally obedience titles, her CGC and her CD in regular obedience, qualifying every time she was entered. Top obedience score was 193.5/200. She got her JH in four straight tests and added her CDX in 2014 and her agility novice titles in 2015. She has one agility open leg. Her biggest triumph came at the 2014 Labrador Retriever National Specialty, where she got two of her CDX legs and her first agility leg, plus qualifying twice in the junior hunt test. In a competition called Up to the Challenge dogs earn points for all their qualifying performances at the specialty. Out of 43 entered dogs, Toastie finished in second place to earn the silver metal plaque! Currently she is working toward her UD and doing pet therapy.

Toastie earned her RN, RA, CGC and CD in 2013, qualifying every time she was entered with a top obedience score of 193.5. She got her Junior Hunters title in four straight and added her CDX a year later and her agility novice titles early in 2015. In 2014 at the Labrador Retriever National Specialty she qualified in obedience, agility and the field to place 2nd out of 43 entrants in the Up to the Challenge competition. In this competition dogs earn points for qualifying in all events offered at the specialty. Currently Toastie is competing in Open Agility and doing pet therapy. She earned her Open Jumpers Preferred title in July 2017. Toastie’s first litter, sired by GCh Kaltrav Caribbean Cruise JH is a year old. Six puppies were donated to Custom Canines of Madison to become service dogs and are doing well in training. At least three are now in service. One is placed with a member of the Wisconsin National Guard and serves as the service dog for his handler and as a therapy dog when needed for her work. Toastie is now nursing a litter by High Voltage Rough Rider SH.
